Today is the last Sunday of August. Three more days before we say hello to September 2016. It’s almost Christmas, isn’t it? 🙂
Yesterday morning, my friends and I visited a Korean restaurant in the city because we were craving for Korean foods. We hopped from one Korean restaurant to another, waiting for them to open at 10 AM. We ended up in Chil Cheon Gak Korean Restaurant, they were the first to open at past 10 AM yesterday. We were expecting to have a Korean buffet but because we were “too early”, the buffet was not yet available. We ended up ordering samgyupsal and I also ordered my favorite Kimchi Jjigae (Kimchi stew).
Samgyupsal – also known as Grilled Pork Belly Strips; a popular Korean meal that is usually cooked on a grill that’s on the diner’s table. It is usually dipped in chili paste or soybean paste and accompanied by sliced garlic, onions, and kimchi then wrapped in lettuce before eating. This is perfect with beer or wine.
Kimchi Jjigae – also known as kimchi stew; it is made with kimchi, scallions, onions, tofu, pork strips and/or seafood. This is my favorite among all Korean jjigae (stew) I’ve tasted. Perfect for the cold and rainy weather of the city!
